Located in the City of Sunderland, in Tyne and Wear, Radio
Sunderland for Hospitals is a registered charity staffed
entirely by volunteers.
Established in 1953 we provide a free personal hospital
radio service to the bedside of patients in the Sunderland Royal Hospital.
We broadcast our programmes of music, news and information direct to
the patients 24 hours- a-day on the hospital network via bedside media units. The programmes are also
available via our online stream using the hospital WiFi. We produce a number of specialised
programmes including the patients music request programme Ward
Call and of course, we provide full football
match commentary* of every Sunderland
A.F.C. home game.
*(Commentaries are only availbable to hospital patients using the bedside media units.)
